Lulu’s Nitrogen Ice Cream to Participate in The DC Scoop Ice Cream Festival

WASHINGTON, DC – Lulu’s Nitrogen Ice Cream, the flash-frozen ice cream sensation that’s sweeping the DC region, will participate in the DC Scoop Ice Cream Festival on Saturday, July 19, 2014.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of this great event!” said Lulu’s owner Luisa Santos. “We are extremely proud of our product and DC Scoop is a great way to share our yummy treats with the greater community!”
Founded in January 2014 by Santos, a Georgetown University graduate, Lulu’s Nitrogen Ice Cream strives to make the best ice cream with the best ingredients — using fresh, organic, seasonal, and local ingredients as much as possible. Lulu’s uses liquid nitrogen to flash-freeze the ice cream bases in seconds. The super-cold nitrogen (-321 degrees F) makes smaller ice crystals, resulting in a smoother, creamier texture than other ice creams.
The DC Scoop is an annual event at Union Market to celebrate summer’s sweet treat. The event will be held in the indoor event space above the market, Dock 5 and the alley behind it from 1pm to 4 p.m. There will be ice cream available to taste and buy from local artisans and ice cream makers from other markets as well.
